Upgrade Fairy Alive and Well

We cruise Thursday on Liberty. Got the call tonight from Carnival. They had a deal to upgrade us from a standard balcony to a Grand Suite for $400. There is 4 of us in the standard balcony. But considering the "other" two are two little kids who could care less about the size of the room or balcony, plus it's a 3 day cruise.

Needless to say for this one we turned it down. For a few reasons, but mainly how short the cruise is and I doubt the kids will notice the difference in rooms. Considering this is their first cruise and they are 7 and 9.

But I do hope we get the call again, since we are planning a Hawaii 10-11 day cruise. And I would LOVE to get the call then... May even be proactive on that one... Plus it will just be hubby and I, so will not be two little ones bouncing off walls because they are bored that Mimi and Papa are staying in the room to long. There is Camp Carnival but the Hawaii cruise is for us. LOL

I'm sure they got someone to pay that price. And yes we can DO a LOT more with that money for them.

Although if it was just my husband and I would have talk him into it. But the timing was right for this trip for a few other reasons....

We turned down the same upgrade, same cost, and same location for the same reasons - we'll have our 2 kids, and they could care less about the room size.

And like another poster said - I can find better things to spend that extra $$$ on with it being a short cruise!

You did the right thing in turning it down since it was a short cruise. Hopefully, you will get another visit from the Upsell Fairy for your Hawaiian cruise.

We were offered an upsell several years ago from a Grand Suite on the Ecstasy to the legendary Owner's Suite. Since I had booked the cruise to celebrate our anniversary, I jumped on the offer to surprise my wife. Needless to say, the look on her face when we were escorted in to the suite was priceless! Yes, it was expensive, but to me, it was worth it! We had a fantastic cruise!

Happy cruising wherever you go! It's a awesome way to travel!

First ever call, this morning. 5 day Ecstasy Feb 28 booked in a 6C oceanview. we are on a family cruise with kids and grandkids. we had to squeeze in 5 to a cabin to make it all work, logistically. We were offered grand suites for 650 extra. At first, I was hesitant. My daughter jumped on her offer. With 3 little ones (one needing a crib), she thought it was worth the extra room. With the balcony, it's like having another room. The tub is another great thing with the toddlers.

I finally pulled the trigger. we have teenage grandsons staying with us, and I think we'll like having the extra space as well. We aren't much for excursions so I don't have to budget for that. Call me foolish, but this is our first suite and I'm excited!!

I would have done the same, not only for the space and comfort, but also for the experience of my family as well! Enjoy your suite!
