yyjguy Posted February 28, 2017 #1 Share Posted February 28, 2017 On Princess if you have no luggage to claim pierside, and if you can handle your baggage on your own, you can "walk off" as soon as the vessel is cleared. I shall only have a small airline carry on sized bag. Does Holland offer the same opportunity? Koningsdam in Amsterdam, May 14.
Scrapnana Posted February 28, 2017 #2 Share Posted February 28, 2017 Yes, they do.
Krazy Kruizers Posted February 28, 2017 #3 Share Posted February 28, 2017 Yes -- early in the cruise you will get a form to fill out concenring your disembarkation. Just check off that you want to do self-disembarkation. On the last full day of the cruise you get a letter indicating about what time this may happen. It usually happens between 7:15 and 7:30 AM. yyjguy Posted February 28, 2017 Author #4 Share Posted February 28, 2017 Thank you both for the answer. Looks like I can get out to AMS and get registered for the flight I want.
jtl513 Posted February 28, 2017 #5 Share Posted February 28, 2017 Nearly always yes - but just once, in Tampa on the Ryndam, walk-offs weren't allowed because "the elevators are too small" ... when we had previously done a selfie from the Veendam at the same terminal building!!  (I don't know if they meant the ship or terminal elevators.) geoherb Posted February 28, 2017 #6 Share Posted February 28, 2017 We had expedited disembarkation on the Zuiderdam earlier this month. To do so, we had to be able to handle all of our luggage without assistance. You also have to have a credit card on file to settle your final on-board account. We were off the ship a little before 8 (after eating a full breakfast in the dining room, which opened early that day). We made it to the airport by 8:30 and were at our gate by 9. The only slow down was the woman at the top of the escalators would not let anyone use them initially. Another ground crew person told her that those of us capable of handling our luggage with one hand could do so. That sped things up considerably.
