philliesgirl48 Posted April 13, 2017 #1 Share Posted April 13, 2017 leaving on transatlantic cruise from Southampton on Caribbean Princess 9/22. Will be staying in London a few days before sailing. Are there liquor stores at the port or should we buy in London? Do you buy wine at liquor stores in London? Have been to London but never saw liquor stores like in USA. Rare *Miss G* Posted April 13, 2017 #2 Share Posted April 13, 2017 They have an ASDA (owned by Walmart) near the port, which sells wine. Also a few other places you can pick some up. Lots of shopping in the area. The port, itself, has nowhere to purchase anything. You will need to get it before you enter.

John Bull Posted April 13, 2017 #4 Share Posted April 13, 2017 "Liquor store" in the USA is "Off-Licence" in the UK. But they're nowhere near as numerous as they used to be because the main grocery stores ASDA, Tesco, Sainsbury, Waitrose, etc have taken most of their trade. You'll find a wine / alcohol section in all grocery stores, both in London and Southampton. If you're travelling to Southampton the day before your cruise you can try Majestic Wines (opposite the central rail station) or ADSA (rear entrance via multi-level parking-lot opposite the coach station) , or Marks & Spencer in West Quay Mall or the co-op store adjacent Premier Inn West Quay or plenty others. But if you'll need to detour to a store during a private transfer from London to ship, or you're going direct to your ship from rail or coach station & burdened with luggage, best to buy in London. flamomo Posted April 14, 2017 #5 Share Posted April 14, 2017 I have bought wine at the Marks & Spencer at the West Quay Mall in Southampton. They offered a nice selection, and the prices weren't bad.
Davebhoy Posted April 14, 2017 #6 Share Posted April 14, 2017 You're not going to struggle to buy wine in Southampton, or any other UK city so definitely wouldn't be carrying it from London. Sent from my SM-G925F using Forums mobile app
