Soon enough we were turning to head down to the bay

 

 

That is when the first improvements to Horseshoe Bay can be seen, they built a tiered wooden walkway from the drop off point below to the top where you get buses

At the bottom another improvement is they paved over the sandy dirt taxi/car drop off area and made areas for mini buses and taxi pickup lanes with cement walkways and curbs etc

 

 

 

Walking in seems to be the same up to the restrooms

 

 

Then the next improvement is a remodeled cafe with a new Rum Bum Bar and small gift shop where the beach chair and umbrella rentals once were

Welcome to Horseshoe Bay

 

 

Beach Rentals are now on the beach and they have new to us loungers in place of the old chair style beach chairs that sat more upright.

 

 

2 loungers were $36 or $18 each, no deposit needed as before to ensure you return the items.

 

 

We picked out our spot and they set the chairs up for you and will drill in the umbrella if you get one into the sand.

The water was very cold, but us New Jerseyites are accustomed to chilly water at the Jersey Shores

 

 

However the water is as clear as our drinking water!

 

 

Just an awesome time, chillin, (literally and figuratively) in the beautiful water

 

 

Then took a meander, not a stroll but a meander down the beach

Like you, there is nowhere I would rather be than with my family on a Haven balcony in Bermuda - thank you, thank you for sharing your breakfasts (all of them) and your photos with the crew.

 

As for your painting - Bob Ross would be proud! You have no idea how happy you are making my family at home sharing your vacation - very, very much appreciated. We are 39 days away from our own Bermuda Haven, and you make me want to go pack right now!

Also just realized we have been members on CC for 10 years now since 2007. Our first cruise together was on Celebrity Horizon to Bermuda in 2004 sailing out of Philadelphia. Our first cruise after signing up on CC was NCL Spirit out of NY on a 7 day Caribbean Cruise in 2007. Really great memories and they just came back to me responding to your post!

Thanks for all the great pictures! I am going to Bermuda for the first time, and also cruising NCL for the first time, in June (although on the Dawn, which I'm hoping won't be too small).

A full open Promenade is one of the things we miss on the newer Ships.

 

Oh gee...didn't know this. My hubby is not going to be a happy camper. He loves his walks on the Promenade in the mornings. ugh!

I have been watching ship in port webcam. Last week starboard side is close to dock this week port side is next to dock. So if this pattern holds next week when I'm on Breakaway starboard will be next to dock. I have aft balcony that will mean I will have view of water. Would rather have view of island but like stated earlier it's better than my view at home.

 

That logic may or may not play out. Over the years the NCL ships have faced out to sea (docked port side) more often than not. Last year, generally speaking, there was more docking starboard side than port but port still was in the majority.

After grabbing a quick snack this morning we headed off just as they cleared the ship. Our plan was to taxi over directly to Horseshoe Bay as the weather looked to be spectacular-

 

Our port-mate Celebrity Summit has a blocky butt

 

 

Breakaway's is way more round and smooth? Maybe the age difference as Summit is much older ;) (sometimes I crack myself up, if no one else)

 

 

Notice the cost to Horse Shoe Bay, obviously I did not in my first response to the cost to get there doh!

 

 

Loaded up we headed out, right at the end of the Dockyard you can see the America Cup Village coming together. Our taxi driver indicated they have been told to expect 14,000 visitors along with the cruise ships porting. He was not enthusiastic at the thought of so many people arriving.

 

 

It is such a nice scenic drive through Bermuda
