tallnthensome Posted May 16, 2017 #1 Share Posted May 16, 2017 I'm holding a room on a 14 day Carnival from California for April/May 2019. My daughters would be 9-11 at that time. Since it would be during school and 14 days is it safe to assume that I'm the only one that would have kids on board this cruise. I'd like for them to have other kids to play with but considering everything I'm guessing not likely, am I wrong? Carnival isn't Holland America so hopefully .... Thanks ...... SadieN Posted May 16, 2017 #2 Share Posted May 16, 2017 Our end of October cruises had about 20 kids each. April/May should be similar. Never had a cruise with no kids onboard out of LA. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Je Souhaite Posted May 16, 2017 #3 Share Posted May 16, 2017 Very few. I kid you not. The majority of passengers were in the 80 and 90 year old range. Half were sleeping during the shows. The ship was empty by 10 PM.
Nightrythm Posted May 16, 2017 #4 Share Posted May 16, 2017 I did not experience 90 year old cruisers. I experienced cruisers who were empty-nesters, but there were still a fair number of cruisers with children. We took a January cruise to Hawaii. I did a similar cruise. There were maybe 20-40 under 18 year olds (if that many). Things did get quiet earlier than you would find on a Caribbean cruise, but there were some of us who were part of the late night crowd. It was fund and more intimate because you got to know a core group of people.
Brad1972 Posted May 16, 2017 #5 Share Posted May 16, 2017 Define "KIDS" .. ..... . LOL. ... I've seen all ages of "kids" on cruises. LOL
Reckless Posted May 17, 2017 #6 Share Posted May 17, 2017 We did a 16 day Carnival Hawaiian cruise in April. There may have been children on board but, if there were, not many. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Lil2Angelic Posted May 17, 2017 #7 Share Posted May 17, 2017 We sailed the Hawaii itinerary in April 2012 and January 2014. I'm not the most observant person, but we did see kids. I remember a few coming up to me in the casino during a scavenger hunt. It looked like they were having a great time. One of the other things I notice is how well behaved the kids are on the cruises we've been on. We almost always travel in the off season when kids are in school and we always see kids. Not a bunch of them but they are definitely onboard. I've noticed some of the teens hanging out in the buffet in the evenings too. I don't think you should worry. Go and have a wonderful cruise. Hawaii is my favorite itinerary.
Rare Silent Penguin Posted May 17, 2017 #8 Share Posted May 17, 2017 We sailed on a 15 day cruise to Hawaii with our teenage daughter in March of last year. (Princess, but I don't know if that matters) Every age group of child was represented but not in droves, that's for sure. I know there were about 20 teens in the teen club, but I don't know how many in the upper elementary range. More of them than there were of teens. Cushing985 Posted May 17, 2017 #9 Share Posted May 17, 2017 We sailed on Carnival to Hawaii in April several years ago. If I had to guess there were about 20 kids onboard. Most of the passengers were north of 40 years old.
MissKIA Posted May 17, 2017 #10 Share Posted May 17, 2017 There were two little girls on our cruise to Hawaii in Jan 2014. That's it. They were the darlings of the family comedy shows.
SadieN Posted May 17, 2017 #11 Share Posted May 17, 2017 OP--- With your concerns about the weather (May Grey has been in full force for a few weeks now, complete with rain and snow. Very typical weather pattern) and now demographics you might want to consider a land trip. Hawaii is best done as a land trip anyways. Sailed two cruises, but have been 'on Island' many times.
