Walk 2 or 3 blocks along the water from the dock. You can see restaurants that jut over the water. There are places you can get in the water

Walk 5 or 6 blocks right along the water to curve around to Eden Rock. Restaurant and small beach.

There is a place calledCabana Oceanside right next to the port. It is very nice. Next to it is Casanova's which is really good but I don't think it is open before dinner. As for beaches, avoid 7 Mile Beach. All the cruise line beach excursions go there (or it seems) and it can be incredibly crowded, both on the beach and in the restaurants. If you go past 7 Mile to the west there is a good beach at West Bay that is very nice and not too crowded.

No, don't NOT go to Seven Mile Beach. There are several places up the beach that are not part of beac excursions. The Cemetery Beach is great! Take a bus from town and ask to be let off there. Also, some restaurants can pack a lunch for you to take. We go every two years since 1988 and stay up the beach so know the island very well. Enjoy.
