Weird Pricing for Teen vs Child

Wouldn't a teen be the same/similar in pricing than a child?

 

Pricing a Yacht room for 4 (2 adults, 1 teen and 1 child)

Why is a child more expensive than a teen? And my "child" is 11 and my "teen" is 12 -- I'd save $160 if my kids was just a bit older. Weird pricing structure....

I suspect it has nothing to do with age but is the price for the third vs fourth passenger.

 

The ship's capacity for that particular life boat station may be nearing capacity and the ship is trying to make up the loss of a potential double cabin sale because of the booking of 3-4 passenger cabins.

When I put them both as teen -- the price is $689 for both teens; and when I put two children -- it's $848

I agree . That is weird ! Call MSC directly and speak with their reps .

I did just that and the ended up putting me on hold for 10 min and then the phone went dead...

 

I just wanted to know why -- rep said on her screen it didn't show a difference but when I asked her to reprice the cruise with 2 teens. she said her system was slow and put me on hold.....dial tone...

Why is your 12 year old being classed as a teen ?

I have a 14 and 11 year old. I'd rather the 11 year old classed as a teen -- it would be cheaper.

Have to agree that the pricing structure is odd, for UK bookings there are also different price bands for kids from 3 to 17 but not back to front like the one you have.

Not sure this is relevant, but whenever I book Carnival, the fourth passenger is always more (looks similar to what you are showing) than the third passenger. For us 3rd and 4th passenger are both kids. I have no ides why.

Well I guess I'm used to Rccl and Ncl pricing ...3rd and 4th are the same regardless. I didn't even post the cost if they were adults.
