Rare Copper10-8 Posted July 17, 2017 #2 Share Posted July 17, 2017 can someone please tell me when this ship goes to dry dock? She's scheduled for Freeport, Bahamas between 06-19 Dec this year, Carol Her last dry-dock was also at Freeport between 27 March-07 April 2015
mamaofami Posted July 17, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted July 17, 2017 Thanks, John, hope this finds you well. We have a reservation for a 3 day cruise on Dec.20 and I'm wondering how much disruption there will be . We are coming with friends who have never sailed on Hal and I thought this would be a good introduction, but am having second thoughts now. That depends 100% on how the work that will be done on her progresses once she is in one of the dry-docks at Grand Bahama shipyard, Carol. If everything goes to plan during those fourteen days, you should encounter no or very little disruption once she arrives back at Port Everglades on 20 Dec She's due for Lincoln Center Stage in the forward part of the Explorers Lounge; “Billboard Onboard” incl.“Dueling pianos”instead of the Casino Bar and part of the Casino; the Casino Bar moved forward in place of the Piano Bar; the Gallery (Arts) Bar instead of the Northern Lights nightclub; the full “Market Place” concept in the Lido Restaurant with new furnishings and carpet; “Explorations Central” with ‘the Hub’, ‘Destinations Display’,‘Virtual Bridge’ and ‘Theater EXC’ in addition to the ‘Explorations Café’ in the Crow’s Nest; Suite upgrades and improvements, incl. interactive TVs, new furniture, modern fixtures and new carpeting; standard stateroom upgrade with wall-mounted flat TVs; and a Spa upgrade
mamaofami Posted July 17, 2017 Author #5 Share Posted July 17, 2017 Again, thanks, John for all that info. That's a lot of work, but I'll take my chances. Since we are spending the winter in Florida, this short cruise appeals to me. I'm cruise deprived.
Happily@Sea Posted July 18, 2017 #6 Share Posted July 18, 2017 Again, thanks, John for all that info. That's a lot of work, but I'll take my chances. Since we are spending the winter in Florida, this short cruise appeals to me. I'm cruise deprived. I will also be on this cruise - but I'm staying for 17 days. I was also on this ship last February when they were taking cabin pictures of certain locations within and doing some measuring. They have been preparing for this for a long time. I am hoping, the same as you, that everything is done. I was on the Prinsendam when she came out of an extensive drydock - the only sign of work done was the carpet was still shedding and the stewards were vacuuming up nap everyday. mamaofami Posted July 21, 2017 Author #11 Share Posted July 21, 2017 Thank you for that link. Since Lincoln Center is old home town to us, we'll have to make arrangements soon to sail on one of these ships and have sea days to experience this ourselves. Sounds really great.:)

Hflors Posted July 22, 2017 #14 Share Posted July 22, 2017 "She's due for Lincoln Center " I guess this means no more Adiago strings... Use to be three violins, now a violin and a piano.... Forward?????
Rare Copper10-8 Posted July 22, 2017 #15 Share Posted July 22, 2017 I guess this means no more Adiago strings... Use to be three violins, now a violin and a piano.... Forward????? It means classically trained violinists, violists, cellists and pianists who perform a selection of music six nights on a seven-night sailing. That's more than what has been two Adagios, no? djhsolara Posted July 22, 2017 #16 Share Posted July 22, 2017 The violinists that we saw at LCS on Koningsdam were awesome and played to a packed room every evening. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
