cruise356 Posted August 28, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 28, 2017 Hi! I have not been to Costa Maya in about 10 years and from what I remember there was not much to do within walking distance from the ship. It was either go to the beach, visit the ruins or go SCUBA diving. . . . I chose SCUBA that last time I was there. This time I wanted to do something different. Any suggestions? Thanks! BTW---Cozumel will be my beach day.
Rare crewsweeper Posted August 29, 2017 #2 Share Posted August 29, 2017 IMO, Nothings changed. They have restored and expanded the crusie port. There is a water park just outside. Way over priced IMO. And there are many new beach clubs along the malecon. But your overall options are about the same as they were 10 years ago. Native Choice does an excellent excursion to the ruins if that interests you.
cruise356 Posted August 31, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted August 31, 2017 Thanks crewsweeper for the confirmation. I came to the same conclusion after reading several reviews of Costa Maya. The cruise port is nothing like I remember but the other sites have not changed. I cannot believe this port is still on the itinerary with what it has to offer. I think I will just remain on board the ship and enjoy what it has to offer. :D
Rare Keith1010 Posted September 1, 2017 #4 Share Posted September 1, 2017 We just go over to the area near the port and walk around for an hour or so. Keith
kokopelli-az Posted September 1, 2017 #5 Share Posted September 1, 2017 We just go over to the area near the port and walk around for an hour or so. What is there and how far is this "area near the port" from where you disembark?
Rare Keith1010 Posted September 1, 2017 #6 Share Posted September 1, 2017 From the dock you just walk a couple of minutes along the pier and you are right at the area that has been built at the port. I'll add a few more photos on next post. Keith
Rare Keith1010 Posted September 1, 2017 #7 Share Posted September 1, 2017 More photos. Keith This gives an idea of the walk. You walk along the pier until you see those buildings.
