NLH Arizona Posted September 29, 2017 #4 Share Posted September 29, 2017 On my Thanksgiving cruise a couple of years ago, there weren't a lot of decorations and no Thanksgiving dinner in specialty restaurants, only MDR and buffet. Much to my surprise, there was no left overs in the buffet the next day.
Rare BirdTravels Posted September 30, 2017 #5 Share Posted September 30, 2017 what can we look forward to on a holiday cruise vs a normal cruise??? Not much difference. NCL is into "dollar store" decorations. And maybe some thanksgiving food along side the kung pao chicken. Gotta be sensitive to the fact that a lot of passengers are not from the United States and may not be familiar with your holiday.
ready2cruzagain Posted September 30, 2017 #6 Share Posted September 30, 2017 This past Thanksgiving on the Epic there were some cheap cut out decorations hung on the walls going into the MDR's. There was turkey on the menu. Make sure you have dinner reservations that evening! We did have reservations but our friends did not and there was a 45 minute wait for dinner in the MDR's. They ended up eating at the buffet which did have carved turkey. Other than that, nothing special.
TriMomma Posted October 1, 2017 #7 Share Posted October 1, 2017 It is Canadian Thanksgiving next week on our Baltic cruise on the Getaway. I am bringing my own decorations just in case. I imagine it is hard to do holidays for every nationality. Still hope there is turkey on the menu!
Rare Clay Clayton Posted October 1, 2017 #8 Share Posted October 1, 2017 If our cruise on Star out of San Pedro in 2010 is any indication, expect LOTS of kids. Star's capacity(double occupancy) is something around 2,300 and there were over 3,100 aboard including if I remember correctly over 700 under the age of 16. It greatly overtaxed the staff and facilities. We had a fine cruise but all in my family also agreed we wouldn't take another cruise over Thanksgiving. Patience became our watchword.
