CanadaRob Posted January 12, 2018 #51 Share Posted January 12, 2018 I take only $25 cash and use it on roulette the first day in the casino. Then I win enough cash for the remainder of the cruise. Unfortunately this strategy has not worked so far. You had me until your last sentence;), I might still try this just to 'see' if it works better for me

Big_G Posted January 12, 2018 #53 Share Posted January 12, 2018 For cruises, a good rule of thumb is to being twice the cash and half the clothes. Where's the like button when you need it?(y)
RiotAct Posted January 12, 2018 #54 Share Posted January 12, 2018 My wife and I have done a couple of 7-day cruises, and we've found that we spend between $200 and $400 total in cash, between tipping on-ship personnel (as well as the luggage porters) and incidentals at the various ports-of-call. YMMV.
griffy116 Posted January 12, 2018 #55 Share Posted January 12, 2018 Cash for pre-cruise includes tips for porters at airport and for shuttle driver, tips to porters at cruise port, maid at hotel. On the ship, it all goes on the card. In ports, we use it for taxis, a couple of drinks in the port, the occasional t-shirt or hat, a hand-made Christmas ornament (sorry, we collect them), tips for room service and "incidentals." If we take an excursion, we tip on those too. We also give extra cash (in addition to the auto-gratuities) to the cabin steward, waiter, asst. waiter and a couple of the bartenders (during the course of the cruise). I always carry an "emergency" credit card. I also scan a copy of my credit card used on board and the emergency credit card, passport and ID and e-mail it to myself in case anything gets stolen or lost.
