Where should we stay in Hong Kong?

There are six of us (3 couples) that will be spending three days in Hong Kong in early March after a Celebrity cruise. Where do you recommend that we stay in the city? Should we stay in Hong Kong Island or Kowloon? Which hotels do you recommend? We are hoping to see as much as possible while visiting and be in a convenient location? Thanks in advance for your help.

My preference is for the south of Kowloon (Tsim Sha Tsui area). It is central for many sights and great for transport links (metro, ferry, bus and hoho bus).

Have a look at the Salisbury Hotel - ideally an upper floor overlooking the harbour.

Lookee here: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2510209

All the major hotel brands have hotels here, so if you have points to use or earn. If you have the budget consider either the Mandarin or Peninsula hotel groups. Both are in the top 5 hotel brands worldwide.

The flagship of the Peninsula Group is "The Peninsula Hotel" about a block from the Salisbury. Can't miss it, it'll have a fleet of green Rolls Royce in front.

Just returned from HK from a Azamara cruise and we visit HK many times.

Costs are very high on the HK side and walking is not as pleasant.

We stay most times in Kowloon Tsim Sha Tui area.

The cost of some hotels do not always reflect in better service.

We used to stay in the Hyatt Regency TST as it is a great location but rooms are very small quality is good and breakfast is amazing.

This year we stayed at the Shangri la Kowloon.

It is a bit off to the side of the major Nathan Rd but easy walk and they run free shuttle to the malls at Ocean terminal.

The rooms were huge well appointed clean and had a spacious bathroom very up to date.

Great service, large buffet was ok better ala cartel in my opinion. Large lounge area with service on main floor and excellent dim sum restaurant .

Pool and exercise was clean.

We have stayed at the Marriott in Hong Kong. It wasn’t too expensive.

We have also stayed at the Mandarin Oriental and Peninsula. Both quite expensive, but VERY different hotels. I can definitely recommend the Mandarin, but we weren’t very impressed with the Peninsula accommodations. The Peninsula’s Rolls Royce airport pickup was nice, but the rooms at the Peninsula just aren’t worth the price.

We have stayed in many different hotels in HK. The YMCA Salisbury was good but now the prices went up because of the demands. It's not such a good deal anymore considering their small rooms and the prices. I may regret saying this for the same reason, our favorite now is the Hyatt Regency TST. With the complimentary shuttles between the Airport Express Kowloon station and the MRT station right underneath the hotel, it makes this hotel a desirable choice in TST. A block from Nathan Road with many eateries right around the hotel area. There's the K11 Mall downstairs also, just a convenient place to be for a short stay in HK.
