You need to set this up before time with your travel agent. There will be a paper to fill out.

Once onboard you head to the Matre de where he will help you go through the menu and pick out what you can have.

then the first night talk to the waiter. let him/her know of your strict dietary needs.

You cannot expect this to be done without help from the agent. The cruiselines have a special needs department. call them and ask for assistance.

On an Oceania cruise last year, we sat one night with a woman who must avoid gluten due to celiac disease. She has a laminated card that she gives to the chef so he understands her restrictions. She brought her own bread, which the waiter brought to her at the beginning of the meal, and her own cookies, which he brought at the end.

Gluten-Free seems to be the diet fad of the year in America. Every week, just about every cruise ship carrying Americans gets between 50 and 100 requests for gluten-free this or that.

They have been through all of this many times before, and will rarely have problems accommodating your request. There will soon be Gluten-free sections in the dining rooms, to make it easier for everyone.
