fg_hb Posted January 17, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 17, 2018 Hello, just saw that QM2 does a stop at Dakar on her way to Walfish Bay. Does anybody know the reason?
BlueRiband Posted January 17, 2018 #2 Share Posted January 17, 2018 (edited) Most likely a medical disembarkation. But AIS shows she's anchored and not docked. Perhaps we'll get an update from somebody on board. Edited January 17, 2018 by BlueRiband
durante Posted January 17, 2018 #3 Share Posted January 17, 2018 We are still anchored off Dakar, Senegal awaiting a local boat to arrive and transport a sick passenger off the ship. We must have been here at least two hours waiting.
bluemarble Posted January 17, 2018 #4 Share Posted January 17, 2018 We are still anchored off Dakar, Senegal awaiting a local boat to arrive and transport a sick passenger off the ship. We must have been here at least two hours waiting. Thanks for the update. I was wondering what was taking so long since medical evacuations are usually done quite quickly. Marinetraffic appears to show QM2 tender 14 was involved in the operation at some point (about an hour and a half ago). Regards, John
milkcow Posted January 17, 2018 #5 Share Posted January 17, 2018 We have a Senegal flag flying, but the Sahara sand/fog/ wind makes it impossible to see Dakar, maybe a mile away. I took a picture of the flag flying from our mast for scrapbook proof we were here. David
