Question about slots

Hello I have seen some posts with the dailies from those who have been on the Equiniox. I may have missed it, is there a slot machine tournament on a 7 day cruise. Thank you

Slots on cruise ships don't adhere to Nevada Gaming rules. The payouts are poor & the odds are worse than slots on land. If you gamble(I do )stick to card games like 3 card poker.

That is actually an incorrect statement, slots on cruise ships do abide by Nevada and NJ gaming rules. The fact that payouts are poor and odds are terrible have nothing to do with the rules. I do agree they are poor however the rules go way beyond the odds. For example one rule and myth of slot machines is that if you put in your affinity card it will effect the odds of winning. In Nevada and NJ it is illegal for them to have any connection between the two for setting odds. As far as odds on the slot machines, the cruise lines follow the rules of the states however they probably just order more machines with lower odds. The odds on the machine are ordered by the cruise line and put in at the factory. Myth #1 of slot machines is the odds can't be changed.

Little known is that there is an organization of cruise lines which has regulations for cruise ship slots. Here's a link to it from the CLIA, please note the first line states they follow Nevada gaming regulations. \

I am 7 Stars with Caesars/Harrahs and do not spend a lot of time in cruise ship casinos because of the odds except for a tournament or slot pull.

Don,

Thank you for posting the link. Very interesting. I love playing slots but agree that the payout is slim on a cruise ship. I know that going in and do it anyway...part of being on vacation!

The odds on the cruise slots are a joke, I have not done any gambling in cruise casinos in 10 years! Viking ocean ship have no casinos the space is used for benefit of the cruisers not the cruise line! As it should be way to go Viking!

Dkjretired. I have a question for you. About a year ago there was a raging debate here about whether the slot payout percentages where dynamically altered by the staff during the cruise. It is my belief (I hope) that this is not the case and the payout percentage is set by the chip ordered by the operator as you allude to. Based upon your involvement here with the mega number of posts and land side gambling activity I would like to know your opinion. There are lot of questions I would like to ask the on board casino staff but I doubt they would tell me for understandable reasons. For example I believe they reset (lower) the jackpot payouts between cruises but wonder if they do it during the cruise. They would probably frown on me walking around with a paper and pen! Thank you.

Yes, odds are bad. Rules on cruise ship table games also are more favorable to the cruise line. But hey, let’s answer the OP’s question here on the 6th reply. Yes, they hold several slot tournaments. Usually they are in the dailies but sometimes you only find out by going to the casino.

Yes, to the OP, shortly after Muster Drill they will usually have a short event in the casino which will give you info on how the casino operates and times and dates of the tournaments.

From what I have read about the jackpots on this and other boards, whether they reset them depends on the cruise line.
