Casino question

We leave next week on our cruise and I am trying to figure out how much cash to take. My question is about money for the casino. Can you put that on you sail and sign card? If I do that is there a service fee? Also is it like a cash withdraw on my credit card? I just don't want to take a whole bunch of cash with me and trying to figure out what my best option is.

I usually bring cash because it’s easier. But you can give the dealer your sail and sign and he can pull money off of it, I think it’s a 3% charge. Yes, it’s just like a withdraw of your card.

Yes, it’s just like a withdraw on your card.

They charge you a 3% fee at the tables and it goes on your credit card as a purchase (no cash advance fee). At the slots, you set up an account at the machine with your S&S and then get cash at no 3% fee right to your casino acct.

I don’t think it is treated as a cash advance. I have done it and it just shows up on your final bill. There is a surcharge of 3%

This is correct. Read above. Only exception is a Premier, or Ultra Casino Cruise. They don't charge a 3% fee, it's waived.

I usually only play slots and prefer to bring cash and budget $200 a day. I don't want to charge to my cabin (credit card), so I can use the ATM in the casino if I need more ($4 service fee plus a $2 fee my bank charges for a foreign transaction). Works for me.

If you are going to play tables, go to a slot machine have it charged to sail and sign and remember “you must make one spin” once’s it’s on there or it will lock your card. But once the single spin is complete you can cash out of the slot and go back to the table. Good way to avoid extra withdrawal fees

I bring cash when I gamble, although that has only been in Las Vegas. I decide my limit and spend no more. Sounds like the other cruisers are charging to their room or accessing ATMs and I think I would be less disciplined that way.

Agree...but not everyone is disciplined (including myself!!). Unfortunately they make it very easy for you to charge $$ to your room account...especially if you have your card already in the machines and of course there are several ATM throughout the ships...in the Casino and by Guest Services.

I’m the same way. I usually bring $100 a Day in cash for gambling. So a 7 day cruise, I have $700 to play with. I spend every night in the casino for hours and I never needed to pull money off my S&S. I usually walk off the boat with most of money left and last time I doubled my money & walked of with $1400! It was the best and sadly only time haha

I usually take $10 cash with me to the Casino and it will last me all week. Usually end up with thousands of dollars to take home. I always win.

I also own all the swamp land west of Miami. Want to buy some?

really had me laughing out loud. I play craps and usually have a lot of downs and some ups. I have broken even and actually came out ahead once. All in Vegas. I know my limits though and love that there are so many other things to do on the cruise. But have to gamble some or it isn't a vacation for me.

Except for the craps, this is me. Long time Vegas visitor before discovering cruising. I hate that the casinos are closed on port days. lol

This also works for me, but on my last couple of cruises, the ATMs were having problems communicating while out at sea. That left me short of cash. :( I am trying to decide what to do for my cruise in June.
