Excursion Transfer to Airport and going through Customs

It's been awhile since I did this and I can't remember exactly how it is handled. Next month I have a late flight out of FLL after my cruise, so my group and I booked the airboat ride with transfer to the airport. If I remember right, we will all meet at a specific location and get on the bus. Do we need to get through customs first? I stood in line for over 2 hours last year and I really don't want to do that again as I'm sure it would mean missing the excursion. Has anyone done this recently and could give me the specifics? Thank you.

Everyone disembarking a cruise at Fort Lauderdale has to go thru customs and immigration.

Check with the excursion desk...they will likely have arrangements for your situation.

You disembark together. You collect your luggage together. And you will be taken to customs and immigration together. YOU have to clear customs.

Thank you. That's what I was thinking. That we would meet somewhere as a group and they would walk us off the boat and through customs.

And the excursion will be an earlier group, so the lines are not generally as bad.
