Rare pierces Posted March 31, 2018 Author #5 Share Posted March 31, 2018 This week I experienced another one of those times when being a lifelong fan of photography throws a stick in your personal schedule. At about 1:50 AM on Saturday morning our darling dog needed to visit the back yard for...reasons. I walked out back because the last Blue Moon until 2020 had turned night to twilight and I thought it was worth a look. I looked. Then I sighed in resignation and went back in the house with the dog. Getting back to sleep with a big bright moonbow hanging up in the sky and no photo was out of question. I got the camera off the desk, mounted the wide-angle lens and went back out with camera and tripod in hand. Sleep is overrated, eh? Krazy Kruizers Posted April 2, 2018 #9 Share Posted April 2, 2018 Dave At least you got to see the Blue Moon. We haven't seen any parts of a moon or the sun in weeks. All we get is rain or snow. Got another 2 inches of snow overnight.
zackiedawg Posted April 2, 2018 #10 Share Posted April 2, 2018 Awesome moonbow! I've not seen one of those before. Very cool to see other birds too - some that I don't get to see in my home area...very nice. Here are some more birds and wildlife from my wetlands this past weekend: A pair of mating dragonflies: A lovely northern cardinal: Closeup with a young alligator: Watching wood storks try to one-up eachother with who can gather the biggest stick for their nest - I couldn't help but think of a quote from the movie Crocodile Dundee: "That's not a knife. THAT'S a knife!" This wood stork seemed to be proudly saying 'THAT'S a stick!: A Cormorant cruising half-submerged:
