Hi ! I am travelling on the Getaway April 29th and was wondering if anyone knows if it’s possible to do something like a cooking class in the Costa Maya stop?

 

Also I will be wanting to get a massage on one of our stops (not interested in spending the money on board) any recommendations?

If you are going to Cozumel, we had awesome massages on the beach at Mr. Sanchos for like $35

Costa Maya is basically a shopping port. Your best bet would be to do an excursion.

I think there may be a Salsa making and dancing class for the Costa Maya port day. I was looking at it earlier in the week planning for our cruise in July. I know it's not a typical cooking class, but the idea really had me intrigued :)

After a short walk from the pier, you will arrive at a special VIP area where you will indulge in a Mayan holistic experience. The intention is to release your positive energy and cleanse your spirit through traditional treatments that have been used for centuries.

A Mayan spiritual guide, known as a xaman, will lead you through the ceremonial process of purification within the VIP area. Your series of treatments may begin with a soothing Mayan bath in warm mineral-rich water. A temazcal session in a steam room usually follows. Mayas traditionally used these sorts of sessions to purify their inner spirits while a shaman chanted over herbal vapors emanating from steaming hot rocks.

Other treatments offered within the Mayan wellness palapa include a cleansing clay ritual and a coconut milk bath that will soften your skin. You will also receive a relaxing massage in a hammock that should release even the last vestiges of stress.

After the treatments, you will enjoy a healthy lunch at your leisure and a selection of refreshing drinks such as Mayan hibiscus water, a slightly tart garnet-colored beverage.

You will then have the opportunity to snorkel in the shallow waters of Akua Bay. The reefs here are teeming with brightly colored tropical fish and graceful stingrays, so it should be quite the underwater show.

In Costa Maya, you can taxi a cheap taxi ride over to Majahual and get a massage on the beach. Very reasonable cost.

Massages at Mr Sanchos for an hour are $80 and up depending on what you choose. They are very good. But as you enter they are on the right under the breezy palapa. NOT over to the left in an open two story building.

 

DH has had nice massage in Costa Maya at Maya Chan Beeach Club two times there....$45 for an hour.

 

We are heading back to both places very soon on Getaway.

On Cozumel I got a massage right on the beach. There is a curtained area under Palm trees but that was on a Carnival cruise. Not sure where NCL docks.
