Single room rates???

Hi. What gives on RCC? I tried to book a single cabin for the 01/08/06 or 01/22/06 sailing for the $429 rate and they said the rate was not available. Then he said there were no rooms at that rate for singles. I know I will pay extra for a single cabin but how can they not have rooms for me under $1000 as a single? I don't get it. :mad:

 

I sailed Carnival as a single with no problem. What gives with RCC?:confused:

The $429 does not sound like the usual 150 - 200% surcharged rate for cruising single. The ship may be full

Well, the special for ddo is $429 out of Galveston. I was quoted $1300+ for a single room. I think that is outrageous. I really wanted to try RCC but, I think Carnival is it for me.

yes, typically RCI charges 200%, but you are right that is MORE than 200%. I have found Carnival and HAL to be the most solo friendly. My next HAL cruise in March is about 120%.

The ship is Rhapsody of the sea from Galveston. It looks like a great ship. Wish I could sail on it. :(

Do you suppose you got a customer service rep that doesn't know what they are talking about ?? It happens. Why don't you contact one of the agencies advertised on CC, or try RCI again, and see what they say. Maybe try *****.com and see what the agents come back with. I used that method with the upcoming solo cruise I booked for my sis and I. We both have our own rooms.

It IS a great ship. At worst, you could book for two people, then 'cancel' the other one before sailing. Voila! Your room for $858!

Put a friend or family member's name in the reservation (if you are willing to pay double), book your room, and just show up solo. Seems like a simple resolution to me. :)

 

Frankly, on full ships, I understand having to pay a double rate for the cabin, but if there are rooms going empty, what the heck?

So it is a great ship, huh? I really want to be on it. Maybe I will consider that booking for 2 thing. I will have to think about it, I'm not made of money and I don't have a sugar daddy. :D

I would talk to a different rep. I just booked a single on the AOS and I am just paying the 609.00 x 2 for myself. They should let you book and give you the price that is advertised.

I was looking at booking a solo trip in Feb on Grandeur out of Tampa. It's only a 4 niter, but the rate for a Cat. G Oceanview was $879 for a single cruiser.

Are y'all booking directly with the cruise line? How can you get such cheap rates? Are you a travel agent?

Looks like the $429 rate for the 8th is sold out. On jan 22nd you can get a cat K inside for $993 total.

Well, with y'alls suggestions in mind, I might be able to book a cruise for my birthday in March. I will check that out.

The $429 pp is a guarantee stateroom rate. RCI does not allow singles to book guarantee staterooms. That's why he can't get the $429 pp rate.

I sail by myself on occasion, and usually on Celebrity or RCI - sometimes the rates are low enough that paying the 200% isn't too too bad. Remember you only pay one port, and one governement tax. It is not exactly twice the complete fare.

If there are no singles cabins available, you may want to book a cabin for 2 people. One person is you and the other person a brother, sister, parent, etc. The other person will not show up at checkin. Now you have a room to yourself but at a double rate.
