SinbadThePorter Posted May 22, 2018 #1 Share Posted May 22, 2018 I was wondering, how does P&O choose the names for its new(ish) ships like the, soon to be not, Golden Princess? Do they ask a marketing firm for ideas? How about we save them some money and provide some suggestions here?:D Pacific ???????

Aus Traveller Posted May 22, 2018 #3 Share Posted May 22, 2018 Pacific Golden. However, if they want to sever ties with the ship's former identity, that wouldn't do.

If P&O wanted to try for something historically appropriate, the ships that Captain Cook commanded when exploring the Pacific were: Endeavour, Discovery, Resolution and Adventure. I like Pacific Adventure and Pacific Discovery.:)

It would be good to see one line actually use a name that had some historic resonance, by reference to a person, place or a famous vessel of the past. That’s why the Cunard ships and the HAL ships have names that are more convincing than the likes of Princess, NCL and Carnival. Of course Shippy McShipface would be a good name for P&O to use
