Complimentary dining discount coupons?

We were on Equinox the weeks of July 7 and 14. Both weeks when the ship was scheduled to be in port after 6 PM we received 30% off specialty dining coupons. Does anyone know if this is typical? I have asked 2 other people currently posting about the week of July 14 and neither of them received these coupons. Does anyone know if we received these because of CC status, (only Elite) or lowly concierge class cabin?

Really depends on the number of reservations. They will offer discounts if the reservations are low. Each Maitre 'd receives a target number of reservations at the start of the cruise. They are judged on how much they meet or exceed that number. They'll do whatever is necessary to meet the target.

Many do not get coupons, but certainly do get discounts :). 30-50% Off is relatively common on Embarkation days and when a ship is in port until late at night. Anyone can try to negotiate a discount with any venue and may or may not be successful.. For us it has been relatively easy to negotiate nice discounts since we prefer to dine late (8:30 +). Others get nice discounts by purchasing multiple dining packages. For example, last year we were able to get our cost per purchased meal down to $25 per person by simply buying a package during a day when Celebrity had one of their 20% off sales. We ate many of our meals in Murano for less cost per day then if we had paid for Aqua Class.

I have never heard of dining packages being sold onboard at cheaper rates. In fact they are not always available on board if they have a large number already sold. I always book a package online as soon as they are available. Don't forget you can use OBC to pay online too.
