Splendido Hotel in Portofino for lunch

We are on the Barcelona to Barcelona August 18- September 1 cruise on the Encore.

Has any one been to the Splendido Hotel in Portofino while in port in Santa Margherita? Any suggestions or recommendations are welcome.

Lunch at Le Splendido is one of our favourite experiences whenever we are in Portofino or Santa Margherita Ligure.

We find it easier to get to the hotel from Santa Margherita as the taxi rank is just to the right of where the tender dock is. There always seems to be taxis available there,while in Portofino it is virtually impossible to get a taxi, particularly just to go up to the hotel

The food and the views from The Terrace at the hotel are fabulous. It is not a cheap day out but very worthwhile.

The hotel will call a taxi for you when you have finished lunch

Don’t forget to phone or book the restaurant online for lunch. It is very popular

You can catch the bus from Santa Margarita harbour to Portofino

It's about fifteen minutes

Sounds great. We will be there this fall. However, I have this fear that I make a reservation and find out when I arrive that our table has none of these fabulous views and is situated right next to the kitchen door. Any comments?
