Atlantic Canada Posted August 19, 2018 #1 Share Posted August 19, 2018 When we sail on the Konningsdam in November we will want to stay in touch with home via internet. We know we don't get free internet with HAL as we do with Princess, Celebrity and RCL so will need to purchase time. Can anyone give me an idea of how much internet time is. When in port we will take iPad off with us and use it in an internet café but when at sea will need to use the ships café. Any info regarding this will be appreciated. A second question regarding Happy Hour. Is this a reduction on drink prices or a BOGO concerpt. Thanks

catl331 Posted August 19, 2018 #4 Share Posted August 19, 2018 (edited) The internet prices that are in effect on the K today may not be what they are in Nov. Today you buy blocks of minutes (100 min for $55, 250 for $100, 500 for $175 etc) but there have been reports that all ships will be changed to tiered unlimited-time plans later this year. Typical prices on the ships that use that method of charging are $14.99 per day for Social Media sites only, $24.99/day for general internet usage (email, browsing any site), and $29.99 /day for Premium streaming applications. The new new rates indicated above are for those ships in recent drydock that have been upgraded to "high-speed" internet. If you purchase all days at once, the rates have about a 40% reduction. Reagan0712 Posted August 19, 2018 #6 Share Posted August 19, 2018 If you only want to touch base while in port, I recommend looking into an International plan for your iPad. I did this recently on a Med cruise and it worked great. 4G connection would kick in as soon as we got close to port. And, it was cheaper than the ship plan. If you purchase all days at once, the rates have about a 40% reduction. We were on Zuiderdam last month, only a few months after drydock. In no way was the internet "high speed." To the contrary, it was painfully slow and we had the middle level service. One thing to know id that there are daily and full cruise rates. The full cruise rate drops daily so waiting a few days to sign up will save a bit. I suggest you try the daily rate first to see how well it is working.
