EastBay Cruisers Posted September 28, 2018 #1 Share Posted September 28, 2018 Hi Everyone !! -- Could anyone help with the following questions : The Regal arrives in Brooklyn between 6 and 7 a.m. on Saturday Oct. 13 ( coming back in from Canada). We booked a transfer from Brooklyn back to JFK airport. Our flight leaves at noon. ( There are only 2 flights that day nonstop to SFO- the other one is in the evening). About how long does it take the bus to travel on Saturdays from Brooklyn Cruise Terminal to JFK ? What time does the bus arrive at Brooklyn Cruise Terminal to pick up the passengers? We're supposed to be off the ship by 8 A.M. Or should we do early walk-off at 7:30 A.M.? Does the bus drop off passengers first at La Guardia? Or does it go straight to JFK? Thanks so much, everyone ! Answers are greatly appreciated. :D:D:D - EBC
Rare Noxequifans Posted September 28, 2018 #2 Share Posted September 28, 2018 Some good questions. On Saturday the traffic towards JFK should be relatively light (25 min.) so, more important is the time of departure of the bus. First I would try calling your travel agent with the other questions and also posting on the Princess board.
Rare Got2Cruise Posted September 28, 2018 #3 Share Posted September 28, 2018 Did you book a transfer from the cruiseline? If so the cruiseline will give you all the specifics and you need not worry.
Rare mking8288 Posted September 29, 2018 #4 Share Posted September 29, 2018 (edited) Princess bus shuttle is going to take more, much more than 25 or even 35 minutes to get to JFK - as, unlike car services, taxi or passenger vehicles - they cannot take the Belt Parkway, which is about 25 +/- miles from the Red Hook Terminal - probably the faster but longer in distance. Buses (as commercial traffic not allowed on NY parkways) must either go thru local/city streets (1 hour & longer) or a loop up thru BQE into Queens, Rt-495 East (LI Expy) and then south on I-678 Van Wyck Expy to JFK (even on Saturday morning, will take easily 45 to 60 minutes). With luck & doing the early walk-off, and booking a car service (or, taxi ... subject to availability & queues for the line) - it is doable to make it curbside to terminal curbside at JFK in 45 minutes, assuming the driver is familiar with shortcuts, weather permitting & traffic lanes aren't closed for weekend constructions (ongoing for last 10+ years, around the Flatbush Ave/Kings Plaza exits mostly, creating frequent bottlenecks. Check with Princess to see if the bus meet their time/schedule requirement ... typically, those going to LGA should be on a different bus. If Princess accepted your booking, then in theory, you are supposed to be fine - if the ship is delayed, just a Plan B, have Dial 7 or Carmel or another car service's phone # ready & get into them. Depending on airline/terminal used at JFK, even with Pre-Check, we always plan to be there 90+ before gate departure (thus, no later than 10:30 but 10 would be better). If you are off the ship by 8:30 to 9, cleared & ready to go - it's close but doable with a car service (I cannot vouch for taxi) - bus transfer usually wait until it is filled and others are loaded along with luggage, on the risky end that I would not do personally.
