Thank you.  When we tried to make a reservation that option to prepay was not given, only a credit card.  Am I looking in the wrong place to accomplish this?

Onboard credits can only be used to book tours in advance before a cruise;  during the cruise it's a simple credit from which any purchase is deducted including gratuities.

So it says that a reservation made now, pre cruise, without payment might not be available when we are onboard.

Has anyone made reservations in the specialty restaurants ahead of the cruise and not had them available to use credits on once boarded?

Book and pay onboard.

You cannot use OBC for this type of pre cruise reservation/payment before you board.

You cannot use ONBOARD credit to purchase a specialty restaurant reservation in advance.

You can only use OBC aka onboard credit in advance to purchase shire excursions.

Anything else you want to use OBC for, has to actually be done ONBOARD.  Hence the name.  It can be a bit confusing as they allow OBC to be used in advance for shire excursions - but that's it

If you want to book a specialty restaurant in advance, you have to pay in advance via credit card or PayPal.  You can't use OBC in advance to do so

If you want to use OBC for your specialty dining,  you'll have to wait till you're onboard to book. They only release a small amount of reservations for advance booking, rhe vast majority are held for those who book once onboard.

Quick call to the DINE line or go to the specific restaurant you want to reserve and book in person once you board

Your onboard account is a simple debit/credit. You don't specify what OBC is used against; your account starts with a negative balance and it's used up as charges are accrued, whatever they my be.

Happy sails.
