Hi Chris, I've also been wondering and hoping that it won't be too much of a problem to get that second seating for Mauretania. I really would not want the first seating. I never eat before 8pm at home either!

I hope that you're well and will look forward to seeing you in April.

John

Hiya John! My TA tells me the wait list has cleared, and I'm confirmed for second seating. Now, is it too soon to start packing? Look forward to seeing you as well.

Chris

Hi all,

A Canadian friend and I have booked a C2 cabin on the Jan. 2, 2007 transatlantic crossing to Ft. Lauderdale, and I'm so excited I CAN'T stand it. I've been reading every website about the QE2, this bulletin board, and if you do a search on Google Movies, you can even watch someone's 22-minute home movie which is fun to see.

It's 50 years ago this year that my mother took a trip to Europe on the QE1 so this is something that I've dreamt of doing my entire life. Somewhere, I've got a scrapbook she put together from her trip... I'll have to dig it out!

So, please add me to the list of excited travellers... 139 days and counting. And YES, I'm counting! This may turn into an addiction...

Thanks David de Chicago for the video info. It can be found at: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2060738801737568560&q=qe2

It's a bit long and lighting is poor. However, it's a nice comprehensive documentation of the public areas.

We are approximately 8 months away from our particular sailing and looking forward to sailing Cunard.

It's a bit like one of my videos - mostly ship, with just a bit of a port intruding! There are four places missing however:( the insides of the three Grills and the inside of the Wardroom. It's a nice video to watch:)

Bonjour David,

I'm sure you'll enjoy the Caronia Dining Room, which is dining room for C-class cabin passengers. Alathough menus are very similar for Caronia and Mauritania dining rooms, I like Caronia because it has single seating.

I just called Cunard the MO - Outside Stateroom is wait listed . Does this mean I'll get either an outside M double or a Caronia single?:)

You are likely to be assigned to some sort of outside double, probably an M.

A lot of people who book single guarantees wind up in double cabins. They almost always sell more singles than they have, and QE2 has probably more single cabins than any other ship to begin with!

David:

Welcome aboard. I'll add you to the list.

The wait will definitely be worth it; by early December you should be walking on air with anticipation and excitement !!!

In terms of QE2 crossings becoming an addiction, just ask Stowaway2K, Brian Boru, Transat Jon, Sfo-John, the Tandems, Calliope, Richard Schmidt, Greatam, Juliecat, or me....the answer will be a resounding YES !!

Bon voyage and safe travels to all of our Spring and Winter crossers who will be embarking on "OUR" Queen's younger sister for the Labor Day cruise to Nova Scotia. There appear to be quite a few of you, both declared and those who will be travelling incognito.:D

We hope it will be so memorable that you will have much to regale us with as we cross the Atlantic in 2007.

Please ADD my name to the April 2007 list. I will be boarding in Singapore and continuing on to Ft. Lauderdale. I did the NYC to Sydney portion of the WC this year.

Robert

Robert,

I am on the full 2007 world cruise also. I was wondering if you could answer some questions regarding the following. Cunard never has information as good as the experiences of passengers.

1. What is the quality of the shore excursions? I have read in other threads/posts that they can be somewhat lame. Also, are the half-day excursions offered multiple times so that one can be taken in the morning and a different one in the afternoon?

2. When I have been on previous cruises, my onboard charges go to my Amex card which I settle when I get the next month's bill. On a longer cruise of several months, do they charge out the account at the end of the cruise or periodically during the cruise? I ask because I will need to make bill paying arrangements while I am away.

3. I am booked in a Caronia single and have requested a table for 8. I prefer to dine 8:00-8:30 and was wondering how it works with early birds at the table who might want to dine earlier.

Thanks for the help.

Question for all of you doing the Winter Crossing. I'm flying into London on Dec. 28 and looking forward to exploring the city for a few days before we sail. Does the city do anything special on New Year's Eve that I should throw into my itinerary? My experience with London to date has just been to switch planes in Heathrow so trying to come up with a list of things to see and do, taking into account the holiday and thus reduced hours.

Thanks.

Rob

Many go to Trafalgar Square or down to the Thames where last year they had fireworks:

If you do this, be aware that for crowd control reasons the closest Tube stations are closed so you may have a trek to find an open one, depending on where you are staying.

Hello all

Well add two more to the list. My wife and I will be joining you all from NY - Sydney. Can't wait.

For the questions above.

#1 My wife and I have taken many shore excursions from different ships and have not found one that we would do again. most of them we are sorry that we wasted our time and money on. We had much better luck walking off the ship and getting into things on our own. Usually running into people from the ship. So I would no recomend a shore excursion.

#2 In the past they have charged my card when I got off, but that would be a question for Cunard.

#3 My wife and I liked to eat early so we got to dinner when the dining room opened. Our table mates liked to enjoy a drink and showed up later. We had such a good time chatting we all left together an hour or so later. We never found it a problem eating at different times.

And for ROK4u2

Remeber the couple you met at Sydney airport on your way home. We will see you on board.

Bobby1119, I could not agree more with Captain Rad's reply to your questions. Mine would have been the same.

Captain Rad, Sorry, I will not see you on board. :( I will be getting ON in Singapore and will taking the QE2 to Ft. Lauderdale. I would have loved seeing you and your lovely wife again. Maybe in 2008 on the QV?? :)

Simple question, simple answer : "Yes".

They are on a table on Upper Deck, port side between the Casino and Crystal bar. There might be some in other places too, for instance the Queens Grill lounge.

From memory there is a pretty typical range of traditional games, chess, draughts, scrabble, monopolly and so on.

There may be some of posts in connection with the full World Cruise or segments of it, but this thread definitely started with the main subjects being the winter and spring crossings and that seems to be what the majority of postings are about. Maybe it would be better to have another thread for the World Cruise, as people only doing the crossing(s) will be on the ship for such a comparatively short period of time. Either way will work, but maybe it will be less confusing that way.
