Boarding Getaway in NYC

We will be leaving on the Getaway from NYC on April 20th. It says the boat departs at 3:00. What time should we actually be at the port for best ease of check in? I have not started online check in yet, but I assume it doesn't matter what time we arrive, even if we have to choose a check in time. We will probably be dropped off by a car service, if that makes a difference.

All aboard time for the ship is 1:00 (per your eDocs). 

 

We show up around 10:15 to get through security and check-in quickly. NY has two check-in areas (in the front and back of the terminal) based on your deck number. Watch the signs.

 

Priority boarding starts around 11:00 and general boarding around 11:15-11:30. 

 

The Garden Cafe Buffet and O'Shehan's open at 11:30 for lunch. The Main Dining Room (Taste/Savor - we eat here) and Margaritaville (extra charge) open at noon. 

 

We normally board early, go straight to the Getaway Theater (Deck 7, Forward, Starboard entrance to the theater) to take care of Comedy Club, Escape Room, and Canvas by U (Painting - extra charge) bookings. Then to Headliners (Deck 6 mid) to update any dining reservations (based on shows booked).

Typically I like to get there around 9:30-9:45- I prefer to relax in the terminal and am usually on the ship 11:30 or so.

If you want to avoid long check in lines, arrive around 12.30. If there were no delays the ship's arrival or in debarking the last cruise passenger, the terminal should be pretty empty.
