sskate Posted December 17, 2018 #1 Share Posted December 17, 2018 Hello, we are going to Alaska next May, we are choosing between Royal on 11 May and Coral 29 May. We will be staying in an interior cabin. So we rely on the promenade deck for viewing the Glaciers. I understand that Royal has no foredeck while Coral has one, how restricted will Glacier viewing be on a Royal ? We would like to see snowy mountains, a bit concerned there will be little snow when we reach Glacier Bay early June. I've watched a video taken in early June, there was little snow, the mountains were pretty green with only patches of ice hear or there. Has anyone been to Alaska in May/June? What's your view? Some said the season for Humpback whales is April to end of May, some said it's more likely to see whales and dolphins from June, anyone saw whales in May? Which cruise ship would you use? Rare Essiesmom Posted December 18, 2018 #2 Share Posted December 18, 2018 If you ask on the Princess board here, nearly everyone will tell you Coral. She would be my choice, too, although I have never sailed Royal class of Princess. The Princess board is located under Cruise Lines P-Z. KreinKrunker Posted December 18, 2018 #4 Share Posted December 18, 2018 2 hours ago, sskate said: Which cruise ship would you use? Coral Princess. Have sailed both. Coral is smaller, has much more open deck space both for and aft, as well as a Promenade that goes completely around the ship. Royal has no Promenade deck per se. jlb91454 Posted December 18, 2018 #5 Share Posted December 18, 2018 I would vote for Coral Princess because of previous reasons given

Heidi13 Posted December 19, 2018 #7 Share Posted December 19, 2018 Spent at least 35 years with Princess, with many cruises on Coral and Island. Quit Princess before they launched Royal Class. However, without a doubt it would be Coral for us, as it is both smaller and has the better pax/space ratio.
