Mariner Spacious Balcony 1688/1388

We have a spacious balcony booked for a future Mariner cruise with our two kids.

I noticed on the deck plans that the corner Aft rooms 1688 and 1388 are available and look bigger from their shape (room and balcony?)

Anyone stayed in these?  If so,

  1. Are they more spacious?
  2. The deck plan also shows as obstructed.  How much (or what) is blocked?
  3. Is movement bad right at the aft?
  4. Good room?

Our current room is aft section as well, midway between the elevators and back of ship.  So not sure location would be that much of a difference (ie. location probably isn't a concern compared with current booking).

The staterooms themselves are the same size as other staterooms in the same category, however the balconies are much larger.

There can be more movement and vibration felt in the aft staterooms.

1688 and 1388 are the size of Junior Suites for a balcony price.  Have sailed 1688 on Mariner twice.

Thank you.  That's awesome.  Thanks.  I'm trying to do searches and it seems like there is a poll in the  middle but room is larger?  (Hard to tell sq ft from deck plan as rooms seem shorter but wider).

Did you find walk extra long?  (We have 2 kids...but 11 and 15 by then so not toddlers so prob non issue)

Was movement more?  Then again, this is a short 4 day cruise and last time we mostly just were moving at night.

Room shows as obstructed but imagine this is fine and minimal.

There is a pole at the end of the bed, not a big issue in our mind.  It is just a lally column like you see in a basement.

The cabin is not square, it is a little odd shaped, but even with the sofabed open, there is lots of room to move around.  We never have had issues walking to aft cabins, yes, it is a longer walk, but not a big deal.  Movement wasn't a problem on our sailings, you feel a little vibration when docking.

We haven't sailed Mariner in over ten years, so can't say anything about current condition of cabin or balcony furnishings now.  The view on that class ship does have some superstructure on the balcony and there is a beam that some do not like on the balcony.  Google for lots of pictures and videos.
