For me the whole topic is clouded by the large number of ads I see from America where gratuities and other perks are given as incentives. Am I really to believe that the full gratuity is added to the pot by the cruise line? I don't think so.

 

For me the whole tipping culture is a demeaning abomination, akin to encouraging begging. Pay them a decent wage and charge the fares needed accordingly.

Yep I saw that and really do wonder where the tipping madness will end.

Blimey, I have flown them and wouldn't tip as the service was non existent.

It was very budget already, we paid for our flights and luggage but didn't pay the extra for picking a seat, a meal, a pillow, a blanket or a drink. The cabin looked like it needed to be steam cleaned, it was grotty and we were the red eye flight out of Atlanta.
