Cot for baby

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Has anyone used a cot provided by RC on Independence of the Seas.

I just want to confirm wether, like in hotels, they don't provide a mattress for them and it's just the very thin base they expect them to sleep on.

Want to avoid having to buy and take a mattress as not easy on the plane!

Would I be better taking a readybed? She's far too young for a bunk.

Many thanks!

We just had one on our last cruise and it did have the basic very thin padded mattress that comes with it, however when beds were turned down on the first night he added padding to it and it was really nice for our 2 year old.

Perfect this sounds great! Thankyou

Judging by your use of the term cot sounds like you might be from UK.

In the US a cot is referred to as a crib.  Most hotels and cruise ships use a pack and play or porta crib - similar to a playpen.  It has a thin bottom pad and not a mattress.

Not it sure the age of your child, but pack and plays are meant for babies; not young children.  RC does have a recommended height and weight size.

Some people find find it easier to turn the couch around and make a small bed with the back of the couch and wall making the sides of the “bed.”

I think a ready bed is some form of air mattress, which you could definitely use, but bear in mind that the cabins are small - not like a hotel room - and you might have limited floor space.

ifyou decide to use a pack and play make sure you order/request ahead of time.

Hi, Yes I am from the UK. We have booked a basic storeroom, do they all come with a sofa/couch? If so your idea is probably best.

Most have a sofa.  Some connecting rooms may have a chair instead of a couch.   It sure if that applies to the Indy though.

The majority have a sofa or smaller loveseat.  If you decide to make a bed on the couch your cabin steward will provide pillows, sheets, etc.
