Getting to the ship in Adelaide

Only 3 days until our next cruise!  We board the Pacific Eden in Adelaide on Saturday (16th March). 

 

Having never been to Adelaide before, I’m wondering what is the best way to get to the ship. We will be staying at the Intercontinental Hotel the night prior to embarkation.

I haven't been to Adelaide for 30 years, but I am going there on a cruise next Feb, so I looked into transport from the port.

 

For public transport, there is a train station at Outer Harbor from which it is only a very short walk to the Port Adelaide Passenger Terminal. The trains travel direct from the City. I believe that the Intercontinental Hotel is virtually on top of the Adelaide City Station.

Easier to just get a taxi or Uber, train is an option depending how much luggage you have.

Train is very easy, if you're close to the line in the city as it sounds you are. Station is right across from the port and many people use the service.

The station is right next door to the hotel so very easy to just head out to Outer harbour.

Adelaide railway station (next door to hotel as suggested), take the outer harbour line to outer harbour = about an 75mins.

Outer harbour station = next to cruise terminal.

 

Taxi will take about 35mins, and will cost around $70+ dollars.

I suppose it comes down to cost and convenience of taxi, to the cost and convenience of the train but having to lug bags on and off it.

I've used the train many times. It is slow (stops at every station) but cheap, reliable and very convenient. It works for us!.

Ranother vote for train, just try and avoid the ones catering to school kids.

Not many school kids heading out to Outer Harbour.

 

Even fewer on a Saturday.

Depends on the time of day and if the footy is on, the train can still be crowded even if they all do not go to outer harbour.
