aleighjc Posted March 30, 2019 #1 Share Posted March 30, 2019 We've never sailed with Disney...how does the kids club area work for the 3-12 age group?? Are there multiple rooms the kids can go in and out of? What kind of ratio do they have as far as people watching the kids? It just seems like such a huge age range and makes me uneasy. Do they give parents a pager if the child needs to be picked up? Do they offer lunch if you decide to leave them in there around a meal time? Snacks/drinks? If you have a 12 yearold are they able to check themself out of that club and into the Edge club area? Traveling with a 12 yearold and a 4 yearold... Thanks! 1025cruise Posted March 30, 2019 #2 Share Posted March 30, 2019 There will be hours where the clubs are "closed" for private programming with the kids, and hours where they are open for all. I don't believe the clubs are open during meal times, but for dinner, they will pick the kids up during dinner.
numtini Posted March 31, 2019 #3 Share Posted March 31, 2019 There are two clubs, one more or less oriented around younger kids and the other more or less around older kids. They are connected by a long hallway. They are mixed because when they were separate parents complained siblings couldn't be in the same clubs and now people are complaining about the range. If there's an issue they'll contact you--the app has built in texting or there are two "wavephones" in your cabin. They will do food, but they won't force kids to eat. Generally, it's reckoned to be not very good.

Children ages 8-12 can be given permission by parents to check themselves in and out of the Oceaneers Club and Lab. Children registered in Edge must have self check-out permission, because Edge sometimes has activities in other places around the ship. When either the Club or Lab is having an open house (meaning anyone can attend, including adults), the other area will have secure programming (meaning only registered children and counselors are allowed). At least one area will be open throughout the day, from morning through after dinner (11 or 12). If you want to make sure your children eat, it’s best to get them food before they check into the club. That’s easy to do from various places on the pool deck as well as from the buffet and main dining room.
ArthurUSCG Posted April 1, 2019 #5 Share Posted April 1, 2019 The offer the kids food for meal times but they don't ensure they will sit down and eat. We would pickup our kids for lunch or snacks and tell them they can go back after they finish their food. Our oldest is a picky and slow eater but he would devour his plate of chicken tenders and fries from up on the pool deck or Cabanas. If your kids don't like to sit for a 2hr dinner, you can ask the CM to have their dinner expedited and check them into the club once they are done. Yes, there are several areas that the kids can go in and out of, and there is plenty of staff in the area. The bigger kids are split from the younger ones. There is a pager system. Take the phone out of your room, and they can call you on it. It works - they've called me before 🙂 They do have lunch and supper available in the kids clubs for the kids - my kids have never eaten there, they like the dining room. Yes - the 12-year-old will be able to check him/herself in and out of the clubs. Have fun!
