Nieuw Amsterdam accident

That is what I thought I saw too. NA however was missing (or had mangled) considerable railing, glass panels, and an aft cam or light apparatus. Poor NA took the brunt of the damage it seemed.

It's always the "innocent" who suffer in an accident.

Some of Saturday's pics showed what appeared to be, Oostie's aft camera, having taken a trip to to the land of eternal cameras and crew were later seen placing a tarp around it

I like that the crewman standing in the railng-less balcony is wearing his pfd.

That's good. I looked but I couldn't spot anything that looked like a safety harness. Is that the gray straps that look like suspenders?

Yep, under the PFD.

Yep, they call that PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) at HAL. The "Boatmen" (one rank up from sailor AB) use the same type of harnesses with lanyard and D-ring at the Marshaling Area (A-Deck midship) when assisting the harbor pilot on and off the ship

Thanks to everyone who has posted pictures.

And it is really lucky that no one was outside standing or sitting on their balconies in the affected area when the "incident" or "accident" happened.

If they were, I imagine they retreated quickly when they saw something the size of a building moving toward their lounge chairs!

Not only that, but it would have been like the Austin Powers scene where they are trying to run someone over with a steam roller, it happens in pretty slow motion, and you would have plenty of time to get back into the cabin or the passageway.
