ebs0303 Posted June 15, 2019 #1 Share Posted June 15, 2019 We're going to be stopping here for a day on the Crown Princess in a few weeks - whats the best way to get around.... thinking about visiting the Jameson Distillery and city of Cork. Just taxi it from place to place? Are they easy to come by? Is Uber an option?
Adventures ahead Posted June 15, 2019 #2 Share Posted June 15, 2019 There's a train into Cork that takes about 25 minutes. Apparently, the train station is next to the cruise terminal.
BarbinMich Posted June 15, 2019 #3 Share Posted June 15, 2019 I can confirm the response above. The train is just across from where the ships dock and the trains to Cork are fairly frequent and inexpensive. We did it a few years ago and thoroughly enjoyed our day in Cork! Diver2014 Posted June 15, 2019 #4 Share Posted June 15, 2019 (edited) We were on the Crown Princess from May 25 - June 6. The train station to Cork is just behind the row of buses - and there's the train just pulling into the station. The train was really crowded just after the ship docked. Apparently, the train station is next to the cruise terminal. This is great to know. I think our plan would be to take train into Cork, then possibly take train out to the Jameson Distillery and then back to the ship. Is it necessary to get these train tickets in advance? Or no problem just buying a ticket when we are ready to go? (would probably let the crowd subside a bit once the cruise lets out)... On that note, would a timed ticket to the Jameson distillery be needed?
Bob7 Posted June 16, 2019 #6 Share Posted June 16, 2019 If you mean the Jamieson Distillery in Midleton, take the train from the dock (once an hour on the half hour) and get off at the Kent station in Cork, walk out of the station and across the street to a bus stop in front of the Station View B & B, and take any of these buses: 240, 241, 260, 261, which all go to Midleton and stop in front of Jamieson. Same route back. Train is about 5 euros, buses are about 2 euros. We've heard there is a 24 hour unlimited Cork travel card for 13 euros but can't find any further info, like if they sell them at the Cobh train station. Return train from Kent station is every half hour.
