Another wonderful Dawn

Recommended Posts

My daughter and I enjoyed the wonderful Dawn for one week on the June 22nd sailing. It was my third trip on her, and first since the refurb. I have read others reviews, so I will just add our observations. This was my first time in an inside cabin (11527) - and we found it very suitable to our needs, we had plenty of space to put everything away, hide our luggage, and never felt cramped. I left the TV on the bow cam as per others suggestions, and it worked well to be our "window" to the world when we woke up in the morning.

Richard was a fantastic cruise director, and we enjoyed many of the trivia, game shows and daily events. The Glow Party was a lot of fun, and we thoroughly enjoyed the evening shows.

We sailed on CAS, and the casino was very friendly- I played for 2-3 hours on my money each night (slots), without having to spend more than I wanted. For my time there, it was not too smokey, but walking through at other times, it could be quite smokey at times.

We found the service to be much better in Aqua than in the Ventian Room. Ask for Romeo for your waiter- he was outstanding. We ate at Bamboo, and did not really care for the food or service there. We had the beverage package, and never really waited in line for a drink. We also found a lounger on the deck quite easily at anytime. One of our favorite spots was the Bimini Bar area, which has shelter from the sun and great drink service.

We went to Disney Springs, and the excursion was well worth the money. We enjoyed the private island, rented a clamshell- which was a short walk to the restroom, bar and a little food truck type structure which had yummy lunch choices. The waiter service came around frequently for drinks on the beach, we never had to look for someone. We also took the Atlantis excursion, and I won $350 in the casino! SO, we did enjoy our trip to Atlantis-LOL.

We did miss the Pearly Kings area from previous sailings- but the wine bar there is quite pretty.

The ship was at full capacity- but for us we never felt crowded or that the ship was too busy. Thank you NCL Dawn for another wonderful vacation.

We are on the Dawn now and are really having a good time. They tell us that the ship is at full capacity, but after doing Mega Ships, we find ourselves saying, "where are all the people?" It absolutely does not feel full.  I would agree that Bamboo was just "OK", but we loved Los Lobos on the first night.

Thank you both for sharing!  We will be on the Dawn in August to Florida and Bahamas and I am definitely in the planning process so a couple of questions.  Does anyone have copies of the recent dallies?  Any feedback on entertainment in the smaller venues?  What night is the Glow Party?  Is there a full size hair dryer kept in one of the drawers by the desk area?  Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello, 2kruzers.  I am saving the dailies and can upload in a few days when we are back home. There are 3 main shows that the cruise director says to go to: the 70s show (Soul Rocking Nights), the Showdown, and Elements. Elements is tonight, so no info yet, but we are looking forward to it. The 70s show was entertaining but we missed showdown.  The Glow Party was on Wednesday night. And there is a hair dryer (it's in our bathroom, but it could be somewhere else in your room.)

Hello 2kruzers! Besides the main shows as mentioned above, there was also a comedienne, a magician, and an acrobatic show. We went to the karaoke, which was almost every night, and a Movie Sketch Comedy Show- performed by the cruise director and his staff, which was really funny. The Glow Party was on Weds. and it was held on the pool deck outside. There was usually musical entertainment in the main atrium and in some of the bars each night.

Have a wonderful time!

Is there usually madness around the buffet then?  We are first time cruisers going in a couple of weeks, and really don't know.

On first observation it would appear to be madness or whatever disorganization you are thinking of - but that being noted

during peak meal times there are two sides to the Buffet - duh starboard and port and both duplicate the other for meal

selection - The starboard side AFT has an extended section with deserts and fruits and can you keep it a secret the

SOFT SERVE ICE CREAM machine.

Once you get the hang of it - it is no where near the organized pandemonium that you would think.

During peak times the Buffet seating can be a problem mostly on the starboard side - take your food and grab a

napkin with silverware and head aft and port side to Los Lobos for more seating. Sometimes there is a uniform crew

member offering or suggesting this - happens when there is a SEA day for noon lunch service.

And don't forget that at least one MDR is open for lunch service and topside next to the pool a mini-buffet offering

burgers dogs cold cuts rolls etc.

Can you tell me what is open for lunch on embarkation day? We are trying to avoid a madness of the buffet area. Thanks!

The AQUA MDR is usually open for lunch on embarkation day - if not the other MDR the VENETIAN would be open.

Both are on Deck 6 - the Buffet is on Deck 12.

None of the specialty restaurants are open !

If in Suite there is another option - your Butler will explain escort.
