Cecilia V. Posted July 26, 2019 #1 Share Posted July 26, 2019 If I have a passport, do I need to bring my marriage license? I'm assuming not, but just want to check. Thanks!
Clarea Posted July 26, 2019 #2 Share Posted July 26, 2019 If the name on the passport matches the name on the booking, you are fine, the passport is all you need.
neverbeenhere Posted July 26, 2019 #3 Share Posted July 26, 2019 You generally get a Marriage License because you plan to get married, a Certificate of Marriage (sometimes having other names) is the form after you are married. Yes, I know... ugh!

The license is issued in 3 copies. The officiant and the couple all sign all 3 copies of the license after the ceremony. The couple keeps one copy and the other 2 get filed by the officiant with the Probate Court. The signed license kept by the couple is the only official "certificate" they need to prove they were married. SRF Posted July 26, 2019 #6 Share Posted July 26, 2019 IIRC, it is the same in MD (it was a LONG time ago). Get marriage license. When you get married, each party signs, officiant signs. Done deal. We got married at the courthouse, so not sure if you have to send in a signed copy.
