Getting to Acadia National Park

Hi there! We will be at Bar Harbor on 10/22 and are wanting to visit Acadia National Park. The bus/trolley tours do not interest us because we are wanting to do a short hike and not just view the park from a bus. We are also wanting to make sure we get to a Welcome Center/Gift Shop to stamp our NP Passport books. The Explorer shuttle seems to be a good option but unsure of how crowded it will be during this time of year. I would love any thoughts and suggestions. Thanks in advance!

The Explorer would have been your best choice, but it stops running on Columbus Day.

I am not a tour person.  Is it possible to do Acadia on our own with the shuttle service in July?

Yes.  I used it when we were there in Sept on a cruise a few years ago.

We discovered an Electric Bike Rental in Bar Harbor but just a little bit too late to actually go . Its $50 / 4 hours rental .   The one way park loop is 2 hours without stopping but of course you'll want to stop .   Next trip booked in 2021 , this is our top priority ~

How old do you have to be to use one of these?  We'll have our 14 year old son with us.

That I don't know...but if you good search bike rentals in Bar Harbor I'll bet you'll find the place .  Its on the Main Road from the port .

Our plan (we're also going in October) is to probably rent bicycles  There's a place called Acadia Bike dot com which looks quite good.  $30 for the day, and they give you maps of the carriage routes.
