ChelleBee Posted October 15, 2019 #1 Share Posted October 15, 2019 Hi we are sailing on the Summit January 14-25, 2020. I know in the Caribbean, Sundays are quiet days on the islands with not much open. What do you recommend to do while we are in port there on Sunday, January 19? DH and I have been so busy with work that we haven't even looked at excursions for this cruise. Previously, we've snorkeled with turtles over ship wrecks in Barbados, but we're thinking of doing something different this time.
Fouremco Posted October 15, 2019 #2 Share Posted October 15, 2019 Most tourist operations are open on Sundays, so you won't have any difficulty finding something to do. We normally rent a car - there's an outlet right at the port, but book ahead - and spend the day visiting a variety of sites. Go to the ports board for ideas, or use google, and you'll find lots of attractions open on Sundays. What excursions are offered by Celebrity? That should give you some ideas of what to do. ipeeinthepool Posted October 15, 2019 #3 Share Posted October 15, 2019 Put out the Do Not Disturb sign and stay in the cabin with Mr Bee. You can take down the sign when you need Room Service.
Edinburghgirl1 Posted October 15, 2019 #4 Share Posted October 15, 2019 Twice we’ve done a catamaran trip round the island with Calypso cruises. We enjoyed it so much first time we chose to do it again when we returned to Barbados. They pick you up from port and drop you off after. Price includes all drink and lunch. They stop at 3 different locations for swimming or snorkelling with all gear provided. Maximum on board is 10 I think so plenty room. Highly recommend. Gordoncruickshank Posted October 15, 2019 #5 Share Posted October 15, 2019 There are beaches in Bridgetown that you can walk to. It is probably a 30 minute walk. Cross over the bridge in town nearest to where the ship has docked and walk straight on and you will find the beach on your right. There are a number of places set up to cash in on your visit - Pirates Cove, the Boatyard and Harbour Lights being some of the nearer ones. JohninDC Posted October 15, 2019 #6 Share Posted October 15, 2019 The Carlisle Bay beach clubs (Boatyard, Lobster Alive, etc.) should be open - about a $5 per person cab ride or a 15-25 minute walk from the port.
