ann1bell Posted October 19, 2019 #1 Share Posted October 19, 2019 (edited) Hello! We are first time cruisers on AQSC. We are sailing on the Empress on 9/20/2020. Will our table size be assigned when we arrive for dinner or do we state our wishes before we sail? Thanks. LDVinNC Posted October 19, 2019 #2 Share Posted October 19, 2019 If they do it like they do on the American Queen, your table will be pre-assigned. If you are traveling with friends, and the reservations are linked, they will likely put you together at a table for 4. Traveling alone, they will assign you randomly. Lady Meer Posted October 20, 2019 #3 Share Posted October 20, 2019 We were on American Queen last December. When we booked our TA asked us what size table and the time we wanted. We chose a table for 8 (I think there were only two that size). Interestingly our 6 table mates hadn’t been given a choice and were assigned the table when they boarded. califsealion Posted November 8, 2019 #5 Share Posted November 8, 2019 We were on the Empress in September 2016, and unless it has changed, you are assigned a table when you arrive for mealtime. The host will ask if you'd like a table for 2 or if you would like to share with others. The Duchess was the same last year. On both those trips, there was a large group traveling together, and I believe the groups had some large tables that were reserved especially for them.
MJSailors Posted January 15, 2020 #6 Share Posted January 15, 2020 Do all ships have tables for 2? One reason we have not taken a cruise with this line is we had the impression that we would be seated at tables of 6 or 8.
TinCan782 Posted January 16, 2020 #7 Share Posted January 16, 2020 We were on the Empress in October 2016, when we arrived at the dining room we requested, and were seated at, a table for two.
LDVinNC Posted January 16, 2020 #8 Share Posted January 16, 2020 On the American Queen, there are quite a few tables for 2, by the windows on each side of the dining room. Breakfast and lunch are open seating, and we always asked to be seated alone, and most of the time our request was granted. The last two times we have sailed it was with friends, so for dinner we were pre-assigned to a table for 4. Dinner seating is pre-assigned, but you can always eat at the Front Porch.
