It must be me - last cruise Barcelona - day after the sentences for the independence politicians was announced.  Cruise changed port time to only 1/2 day to leave ahead of demos.

Cruise 2  years ago ended in Rome the day of a national strike no way to get to the city as all trains off  and all taxis fully booked by the time we docked and found out about the strike.

Now St Martin,  on saying that last trip there took public bus to french capital and wan't very impressed.  Does anyone know if any of the beaches on the French side were/ are impacted as planned a Rhino Riders tour to Happy Bay (done this before and was a fab day)

We last visited St. Maaten in December 2018. At that time the French side of the island was very slow to recover from the devastating hurricanes of 2017. There was a TV documentary about the problems on the French side. The Dutch side was still showing the effects of the hurricane, but it was clear that they were recovering much more quickly.

The French love their strikes.  Last time we were in the Riviera, there was a train strike.  Fortunately, we had booked private excursions.

Currently on Day 12 of a Pension Reform strike. The Gilet Jaunes  have been protesting for over a year now against Macron`s reforms.
