cruise questions Posted January 11, 2020 #1 Share Posted January 11, 2020 I am interested in Lost Mayan Kingdom Aqua Adventure-Royal Carribean has an excursion for just the waterslides that seems a lot less expensive than paying at the park. If we book the excursion through the cruise line, it says it begins at 1:00 PM-does anyone know if we book through the cruise line, if we can just walk there ourselves earlier (and not wait until 1:00?)? It appears that we dock at the port at 11:00 and I would prefer to go to the park at 11:00 instead of wait until 1. It is my understanding that it is a short walk-could we just walk there on our own, with the ship-booked excursion? (Ie do we get tickets in advance, the day before?)? Thank you! Rare crewsweeper Posted January 11, 2020 #2 Share Posted January 11, 2020 No idea as we don't do ship excursions in Costa Maya and LMK is way over priced, IMO. But, the earliest you'll probably be able to leave the ship would be 11:30 or 11:45. Long walk down pier, long walk through port, before shorter walk to LMK. And generally ship excursions have a meetup spot near the ship before heading out. Best bet is check with Shore Excursions on boarding to see if allowed to DIY. Rare mitsugirly Posted January 16, 2020 #3 Share Posted January 16, 2020 We have been here twice in the last 4 months and yes, you can walk there and go in without waiting for the group at 1pm. At least that's how it was with NCL. You will have your excursion tickets and that's all that is needed to get in.

So you bought the excursion through the cruise line (NCL) but walked up without the NCL group? I am assuming RC would be the same way-we would get the ticket prior to the day-of event... Were lines crazy for the slides?
Husky61 Posted January 17, 2020 #5 Share Posted January 17, 2020 Don't know what it cost on the ship, but their website charges $99 PP.

Yes, the water park option through the ship (we are not interested in zip lines-just the slides) is about half of that.

We bought our ticket with NCL (which charges the same amount as the park does) because booking with them (we are Platinum) gave us a discount. :D No it wasn't too bad when we were there. Earliest and latest was next to no lines. But either way, it wasn't bad at all either times we've went (just went last month again).

It makes me happy to hear you went back a second time (meaning you must have enjoyed it the first time). Thanks for the information!

Will it be obvious once we get outside the port which way to go? Or do you have a general recommendation for direction we should follow? Thank you! When you walk outside the port just walk down the street (there's only one) and all the way until the end and you will see a street on the right. You turn right and take that all the way there. Super duper easy.
