Internet Mgmt Contractor Change?

Yellowfish ( @PescadoAmarillo ) has been reporting horrendous (my word) internet from the Majestic.  I don't recall it being anywhere near this bad last year.  Here is a quote from a fellow passenger she posted in her blog, so I wonder if any other ships are similarly impacted if indeed this is true:

 

"A fellow passenger who seems to know about these things said it’s because the company that currently manages the WiFi lost the contract for MedallionNet, and has also lost all motivation to keep up the existing system."

I saw that, too. It wasn't clear if that company manages the entire fleet or just in Australia/NZ.

I wondered about that as well but then it's never "set in stone" when a fellow passenger passes along this type of info. The other person could just be repeating something they heard and which may not have any basis in fact.

It was pretty bad our 2nd week on the Sky, the week of Christmas.  The Internet Manager said it was being worked on, onshore, so it wasn't something he could fix.  It never really got better.
