Cruise Junky Posted February 5, 2020 #1 Share Posted February 5, 2020 Hi there. Does Windstar turn a blind eye to bringing back wine from ports when sailing in wine regions? Bordeaux and Rioja for instance? If there’s going to be an issue I’d rather book another line or land trip. I have no issue with corkage Thanks. Ski Mom 2 Posted February 5, 2020 #2 Share Posted February 5, 2020 (edited) We cruised on a back2back2back Mediterranean cruise in September 2018. We were told the two of us were allowed a total of two bottles when bringing them back from port. They do look through your bags when reboarding the ship. Several times we had more than that (especially on the day we took the ships wine tasting tour). We didn’t make a big deal and only once or twice did they even really look at us but let us on. At that time the corkage fee was $15 I think which we thought was more than fair. And if for some reason you’re not done with the bottle they will hold it for you until the next day. stcruise Posted February 5, 2020 #3 Share Posted February 5, 2020 Last year on Wind Star sailing from Rome to Barcelona, we had much the same experience as Ski Mom 2. We brought back several bottles of wine from tours (independent, not Windstar) and they just waved us through. It's probably not guaranteed, but they do seem to be fairly lenient if it's just a couple of bottles (we had the case we ordered shipped). 😁
ducklite Posted February 5, 2020 #4 Share Posted February 5, 2020 In 2012 we regularly brought back wine--six bottles once in Italy, four in Croatia, a couple others here and there. We weren't planning on drinking any on board, they were all to take home to add to the cellar. No one ever said a word about it.
Cometman Posted February 5, 2020 #5 Share Posted February 5, 2020 I have never had a problem with Windstar bringing wines on board.
