they aren't refunding, just letting you re-book onto something else at a later date.

I thought it had been pointed out that DOT rules re refunds for cancellations applied to cruises as well as flights. No?

This is a weird situation because the cruise was rebooked from a previous cruise where they paid my out of pocket expenses (change fees, etc.) for me to rebook instead of getting a refund.

Additionally my flights--American is NOT letting me take a refund, and I'd need to use $3500 in airfare by mid November.  It's a mess.

Are you being funny?

You find it impossible
that COVID-19 could be an existential threat to the cruise industry?
and/or other industries as well?

This is 'not over until The Fat Lady sings'.
She's stuck in traffic right now -she isn't even in the building!

This is 9/11 version 2.0 except this sucker is glo-bal
not just rich white Western nations like in 2001.

I fully understand that it's not the news we want to hear

but the writer is Just Sayin!!

I was replying to your comment about some cruise lines might not make it. I'd be willing to bet that a bunch of them won't make it. And if there are any left the industry won't look the same at all. They've suffered a real blow and didn't have a great reputation before.

Just found this among a plethora of less than flattering pieces.

Dear oh dear!

Although a fair chunk of it is unpleasant truths
I have my doubts about "onboard air pollution was

“comparable to concentrations measured in polluted cities,

including Beijing and Santiago”.

Sounds a bit much?

Always found air on board to be OK!

I think what got me was there were so many things reported on from what appeared to be reputable sources. That's always a big one for me.

But I also thought this was written

by someone who loves to hate the cruise industry

and was careful to include the cruise AND SHIPPING/Cargo industries

when telling of staggering levels of pollution
"more than a million cars" -oh the drama! lol

Sounds nearly as bad as those 12-14,000 jets and planes

in the air at 36,000 ft.

at any given time of day or night 24/7/365 (pre-COVID close-down)

pouring pure air and oxygen?? into the atmosphere - lol

from their kerosene-burning exhausts! Happy Earth Day!
