hrt4girls Posted April 26, 2020 #1 Share Posted April 26, 2020 We are making plans to cruise the Caribbean in the fall. (Fingers crossed) We will be making stops in Bonaire, Aruba and Curacao. One of those days we would like to have a beach day instead of an excursion. We have no problem finding our way to the beach and back. Usually we like to learn a bit about the port of call, but we are on a longer trip and want to have one day just for sun and sand. And maybe lunch. We are looking for a beach that has beach chairs and umbrellas to rent. Restrooms and/or changing rooms would also be nice. We don't have to be at a fancy hotel or beach club. We certainly don't need a pool. So which one of those stops would have the best options for a beach day? If you have a favorite beach, please share. Thanks for your help. cruiseapril Posted April 27, 2020 #2 Share Posted April 27, 2020 In Aruba- we like Palm Beach. Some like Eagle better. In Curacao- we like Blue Bay. Bonaire is for snorkeling.
KD Travel Adventures Posted May 6, 2020 #3 Share Posted May 6, 2020 Aruba - Last October we took a tour of the island with a taxi guide, Iris, who told us we couldn't just go to the beach. We had to see the island. She was great! At the end of the island tour she dropped us off at the Hilton, which is on Palm Beach. The Hilton grounds were beautiful walking to the beach (see below video), but we thought the umbrella and chair rentals were extremely expensive, so we took a taxi to Amsterdam Manor at Eagle Beach, where we had gone in 2013. At the bottom of this post are some pictures from Amsterdam Manor/Eagle Beach. The umbrella and chair rentals at Amsterdam Manor were very reasonable and included WiFi. I can't remember the exact cost, but I'm thinking it was $20-$30 for two chairs and an unbrella. They also have food and drinks for additional charge, and restrooms within close walking distance.. Something to note: taxi's do not allow you to be wet or have sand on you, so be aware of this and consider the bus, which drops you off and picks you up near Amsterdam Manor. In 2013 we took the bus to Eagle Beach/Amsterdam Manor and walked back (about 4-5 miles) and last October we took the bus back from Eagle Beach/Amsterdam Manor. Below the Hilton video is a video on how to get to the bus station from the cruise terminal.

We are also interested in a nice beach with changing rooms and place to buy lunch. However, something less busy than Moomba. Any recommendations? There is a spot on Eagle Beach that has bathrooms and a snack bar. Just tell the taxi or bus driver to let you off at Chalet Suisse Restaurant. The beach is right across the street. You can rent chairs and umbrellas there.
