You may have been on a premier or ultra sailing, with a crowded casino (or just unlucky on a sold out ship).

I don’t believe there are sailings specific to ECHO, rather they are similar to Elite benefits applied to any cruise.

I have a friend who is ECHO and she says there are definitely some ECHO sailings where they have more ECHO customers on board than they would with elite.  I want to say she said there was a celebration sailing or something like that for new ECHO members.  I honestly can't remember.  I was more interested that they flew her in for the cruise.  That I remember clearly.  With flights being more and more expensive and them nickel and diming you for every little thing, I have gotten to where I do not like flying.

BTW, I had heard the same as what you said about premier and ultras being packed, so that is one reason I do not book those.  Although with ultra, it seems if they had their old program where they gave bigger gifts to all attendees then I might would consider it.  For now, the free suite, 1,000 in free play has been my go to.

Going on my first Elite in two weeks out of Miami.

Very accurate information. As an ECHO player, I average around 10K points per day and my bankroll is $10K+ per trip.

How many hours per day are you playing on slots to gain 10K points? How much $ per bet? I spent around $12K on past 4 day cruise and only racked up 22K points.

Anyone else please feel free to chime in, it seems to me that if I bet lower amounts I get more kickbacks which can keep me playing longer but it takes many hours daily to accumulate the points where as if I do bigger bets $5-$50 per spin I'm "buying" points more quickly, but less total points over the coarse of the week. I have a friend that says he spends roughly $6K to gain 25K points on a week long cruise but does the lower bets only and is in the casino 6+hrs daily.

Not exactly sure how many hours or points are required to qualify for ECHO, never seen it posted anywhere.

Stupid question for anyone that has sailed on an ECHO offer...

1) They give you free Social WiFi, does anyone know if they'd allow you to upgrade to the higher level and only pay the difference?

Yes it's offered in the app when you're activating.

I sailed on Elite offer recently, which comes with Social internet plan. I was able to upgrade to Premium for $7/day. Value is also available for $5/day

Hey all. I'm honestly curious how this works exactly also. I've asked on board hosts and they say they don't know for sure either. I went on a 3 day cruise 2 years ago as a first time Carnival guest. I cruise regularly but have a national Casino Marketing host that usually books me on MSC, RVL, NCL, Celebrity, Virgin, or Crystal (prior to the ownership change).

On the 3 day carnival cruise I did pretty well, walked off with 7k cash. No idea how many points I got, but within the week I started receiving nearly daily ECHO and ELITE offers.

18 months later I went on a 4 day, was comped a suite, which included 2500 freeplay, 400 OBC, daily gifts, and a couple comped specialty dinners.

I'm currently finishing up an 8 day ELITE offer, which is also in a grand suite, 2500 freeplay, 400 excursion credit, 200 OBC, port parking credit (or airport transfer), a gift in room nearly every day, plus a couple massage and specialty dining meal.

This trip I'm at about 45,000 points on day 6 of 7. Talked to the host, and he said "you're almost to ECHO". So I have no idea how these points actually work.

That said, it seems the way to go is hop on a 3 day and crush it. Then get your ECHO or ELITE offer and take advantage.

Also, never gamble for comps. If you do, you'll end up spending more than if you just pay for the cruise yourself.

Good luck and happy sailing!

How what works?  Onboard hosts have no idea or connection to how the casino marketing determines offers.  You can't get an ECHO offer by crushing any one cruise.  It isn't based on points.  The casino marketing bots gather a bunch of information on players including income, resources, spending, status at land casinos, hotels, airlines, high limit credit cards, etc.

Also, the offers aren't daily.  It is the same offers in your Carnival account with constant emails about the same offer

Do we know what Casinos are rated by Carnival? MGM, Caesars, Ballys, etc???

All of them buy and sell player club information.  There may be more marketing towards MGM since they are the Sports Betting partner.  Bally's is now making a partner play after their split from Caesar's and now the online gaming app "Jackpot Party" has a Carnival promotion.  If people are using the same email address at all these sites, the bots will make the connection.

Sorry, I thought I was pretty clear on what I was asking, but I guess not clear enough. How exactly do they determine when one becomes ECHO or ELITE. If on board hosts have "no idea" then why do they say things like "you're about to hit ECHO status"? Also, where did you get your info about casino marketing boys gathering personal data to determine offers? I've never heard such a thing. I've been a high roller with dozens of brands the last couple decades and I don't agree with that statement whatsoever. What's your experience with this?

Hosts say stuff like that so you will play more thinking a few more $100s in the machines are going to pay off.  It is what players want to hear to justify more play.

The casino players website disclosures how they gather and use data but anyone familiar with marketing knows this.  You trade personal privacy for deals.

If you have been a Noir, Seven Stars etc level player for years, that alone tells the casino marketing bots most of what they need to determine if you have a consistent history of high play with the resources to continue.

Of course, everyone buys and sells your information...see the tiny print image.thumb.png.eea04a56b15384c8f0c2a887112f5aec.png
