Rare pierces Posted February 22, 2021 #1 Share Posted February 22, 2021 Pictures taken between Monday, February 22 and Sunday, February 28. Rules: See above That's it. This isn't a contest. All photos taken this week are welcome (not just cruising). Prizes will not be awarded. Discovering the joy of photography is the prize. The idea is to get folks out using their cameras for more than vacations and toddler birthdays. Post one. Post many. Up to you. Have fun with your camera and share your fun with others! Rare Oviedo32765 Posted February 23, 2021 #2 Share Posted February 23, 2021 (edited) I ventured out into the Wild yesterday with mask, sanatizer, and camera in tow to a local attraction - Lukas Nursery & Butterfly Encounter. In addition to butterflys there are also a variety of birds in the encouter as well. I also roamed the nursery photographing various subjects while the rest of the family was selection plants. Good ploy on my part because I missed the fun loading the plants and potting soil in the car! Edited February 23, 2021 by Oviedo32765
Rare ski ww Posted February 27, 2021 #3 Share Posted February 27, 2021 Got some skiing in yesterday, great weather weather but after opening on 16 Feb we are closing again 1 Mar because our numbers are going up again so I think that will be the end of our ski season.
Rare PurpleHays Posted February 28, 2021 #4 Share Posted February 28, 2021 As a *very* beginner skier, that hill scares the H*** outta me, even though I know it's not very steep.
Docker123 Posted February 28, 2021 #5 Share Posted February 28, 2021 Beautiful Sunday morning here in Melbourne, Oz. Clear ski, no wind, about 22C. Went over for my morning stroll at Newport Lakes. Thought I should post some pictures of the place. It is a former rock quarry that has been converted into a nature space. On 3 sides is housing (orange flashes in the first image), fourth side is picnic and playgrounds. Lots of native species now in the park, including the eastern long neck turtle.
Rare pierces Posted March 1, 2021 Author #6 Share Posted March 1, 2021 Well, there went another week without any "real" photography. A time and energy consuming project at work along with some extra effort put into finishing up the guest room put the week into a time warp and we all know that cameras don’t work in a warp field. It was a busy week and there were precious few images to choose from at the end of it. I chose this snapshot of my Friday night dinner mostly because I am a fan of fish tacos. I am a bigger fan of excellent fish tacos and the ones from this week’s food truck at our favorite speakeasy easily qualified. I feel bad that I had no time or energy left over to spend quality time with my camera during week nine, but some quality time spent with Wonderful Wife more than compensated. Did I mention fish tacos? Lightspeed Week Dave
Rare Oviedo32765 Posted March 1, 2021 #7 Share Posted March 1, 2021 Official Mardi Gras was Feb 16th, but our local town celebrated on Fed 27th. In order to attend this year, one was required to use an event ticketing website for tickets which were limited for social-distancing purposes. Masks were required unless one was either eating/drinking or in their social circle which was outlined in the event area. Although there was a band and other entertainement, the event just wasn't the same to me. But it appeared all in attendance were having a good time. There were two food trucks parked just outside the event area - a Cajun truck the "entree" and a Cup Cake truck for "dessert."

zackiedawg Posted March 8, 2021 #9 Share Posted March 8, 2021 I got more delayed than usual in processing my shots from the Feb 27th weekend - working on a sorting project and backing up on older photos...I didn't get around to sorting through the shots until this past Saturday, 3/6/21. So here are some of the highlights of the wetlands action from last Saturday, Feb 27th: Male painted bunting staying in the shadows, feeding on the flowers along the trail - it's hard to hide though when you're this colorful: Another hiding bird, this time one hiding in plain sight, using good camouflage and staying very still...the Wilson's snipe: This male least bittern was hanging over the water on a low branch, waiting for the opportunity to strike at a fish below: I'm hunting Wabbits. Well, hunting with my camera, anyway! This marsh rabbit was a sitting duck out in the open on the levee, and I fired my shot: A lovely little pied-billed grebe floating in the calm reflective waters: The tricolor herons have taken on their breeding colors - their bills turn blue, their legs turn red, and they grow out the long feathers on their back with an almost hairlike consistency:
