bluecruisin Posted February 16, 2006 #1 Share Posted February 16, 2006 Considering a cruise with Tortola as a port visit. Plan on spending our excursion $$ on activities in the other ports and looking for something cheap in Tortola which probably means not taking a cab as fares can add up. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks for any and all help with this!
cjh Posted February 16, 2006 #2 Share Posted February 16, 2006 At the end of the pier and left there is a flea market and a little further down is a store that takes credit cards and around the corner from that is a little shopping village that only takes cash. My kids love Tortola because the chickens and roosters that roam all around the area go in and out of the stores so don't be shocked if you are in a store and all of a sudden a chicken or rooster pop out. winniesbestm8 Posted March 2, 2006 #4 Share Posted March 2, 2006 Is it the Pussers Pub, the famous bar? We are doing the dolphin discovery in the morning and were planning on a trip to cane garden bay, but we will look around roadtown in the afternoon, and maybe try a 'painkiller' cocktail in pussers pub afterwards. CaribbeanBound Posted March 5, 2006 #8 Share Posted March 5, 2006 Actually this is the one port where you shouldn't skip the excursion. Strongly recommend you walk to the ferry dock and take a ferry to Virgin Gorda, my all-time favorite beach. Check the Tortola threads for more details about Virgin Gorda. It is not to be missed! It is an inexpensive excursion you can do on your own, and the ferry ride itself is pretty cool due to the views. Hint: sit up top if you can. skylar64 Posted March 22, 2006 #9 Share Posted March 22, 2006 We don't arrive in tortola till 12:00 and are taking the ship catamaran excursion to the caves that is 4 hours. Not departing till midnight and was wondering how far cane garden beach is and if we can go over there too. Anything interesting to do or see after dinner with kids?
